Andrew Ball    

Andrew Ball, Director of Choral Music

 

Andrew holds a MM in Choral Conducting from CSU Fullerton, and a BA in music and a Teaching Credential from the University of California, Irvine. During his education, Andrew has had the privilege to study with notable conductors such as Professor Joseph Huszti, Dr. Stephen Tucker at UCI, Professor Christopher Gravis, Dr. Robert Istad and Dr. Chris Peterson. Andrew Ball is currently based at Corona del Mar High School, where he is the Director of Vocal Music and conductor of seven different vocal ensembles, including the Corona del Mar High School Madrigal Singers, with whom he has performed in France, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. 

    In addition to his time teaching, Andrew enjoys performing with the Men in Blaque vocal ensemble with whom he has participated in festivals and competitions in multiple countries including China, South Korea, Mexico, South Africa, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom. He made his international debut as a conductor at the Bratislava Youth Festival in the summer of 2014, and has gone on to conduct performances at such notable venues as La Madeline and Notre Dame in Paris, France, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, and the Arch-Duke’s Hall of Mirrors in Olomouc in the Czech Republic. He is regularly asked to present lectures at University of California, Irvine and Vanguard University, where he discusses music education at the primary and secondary levels.

    When not singing or conducting, Andrew enjoys geocaching, ultimate frisbee, and super hero movies. He fancies himself a bit of an eccentric, and Maurice, his puppet, agrees.

Kevin Weed 

Kevin Weed, Accompianist

Kevin Weed is a very busy collaborative musician in Orange County. He is choral accompanist for Corona Del Mar High School and Middle School; principal organist at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Anaheim; associate organist at St. John The Baptist in Costa Mesa and the Mission Basilica in San Juan Capistrano; music director for Arts & Learning; a member of the Irish band Innisfree; composer, bagpiper, and occasional conductor.

     Past: Mystery Cafe; The Gourmet Detective; Opera Pacific's Opera Camp; Garden Grove/Orange County Symphony, Boneswest. Performance tours to Italy, Australia, China, Japan, Okinawa, British Isles, France. Recordings with Rod Stewart, Mike Oldfield, Orange County Millennial Choir and Orchestra, Dennis Doyle, Alyssa Wills, Innisfree, and the movie Battleship.

     Some of his favorite original compositions: Bagpipe Concerto; Harpsichord Concerto; Organ Concerto; Celtic Epic; Joan Of Arc - The End, The Beginning; Old World Overture; and a set of Songs on the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.
