Performing Groups

CdM Vocal Music consists of a variety of performing groups that cater to students of all levels, because we believe that choral music should be accessible to everyone, regardless of skill level or interest. Our ensembles perform varying styles of repertoire and each group provides a unique and engaging experience.

Madrigal Singers - Advanced Mixed

The Corona del Mar High School Madrigal Singers consists of 48 highly qualified student musicians in grades 10th through 12th and has performed as a part of several national and international tours. This list consists of Paris and Antibes France, Lublin Poland, Olomouc Czech Republic, New Orleans Louisiana, Bratislava Slovakia, Barcelona, Zaragoza and Madrid Spain, and Powell River British Colombia. Most recently they competed in the Kathaumixw International Choral Competition in the beautiful Powell River, British Colombia, where they received First Place in the Youth Choir and in the Contemporary Competitions and Second place in Folk Song. They also received the prestigious Elmer Iseler award, awarded to the best performance of an original Canadian composition, the first American choir to ever receive this award in history! Directed by Andrew Ball, who is in his tenth year of teaching at Corona del Mar, the Madrigal Singers are in high demand for caroling and other performances throughout Orange County.

Vox Angelica - Advanced Treble

Vox Angelica is Corona del Mar High School’s auditioned Treble vocal ensemble available to 9th through 12th graders. This ensemble has participated in many festivals and competitions over the years, most recently the Treble Choir Festival at Redlands University and they were awarded First Place in Treble and High School Vocal Music in the 2023 Parks Competition at Disneyland. They are dedicated to making great music, and often perform difficult pieces of music written by prominent women composers. They regularly perform in festivals around the South Land, and in the summer of 2019 they joined Madrigal Singers and Profundo in a trip to New Orleans, where they sang under the baton of Cheryl Dupont and Bob Chilcott.

Profundo - Advanced Bass

Profundo is Corona del Mar High School’s auditioned Bass vocal ensemble available to 9th through 12th graders. This ensemble receives scores of Superior for both of its performance and sight reading at their festivals each year. This past year they were awarded first in High School Men’s in the Park’s festival and awarded second in the High School category. This October they participated in the inaugural For Men Mostly festival, hosted by Men In Blaque. A true crowd favorite at both CdM Vocal concerts and CdM Rallys.

Noteoriety - Intermediate Mixed

Noteoriety is Corona del Mar High School’s most diverse ensemble, consisting of over 50 members and containing students ranging from grades 8 through 12. Noteoriety’s strength lies in its incredible infectious energy, and in the clear joy these students feel to be making music. Despite being majority middle school, Noteoriety consistently performs well in High School choral festivals, even hosting one each year during the month of April. They rehearse three times a week with the aim of developing vocal technique and sight reading ability.
