Ensembles
Madrigal Singers
The Corona del Mar High School Madrigal Singers, directed by Andrew Ball since 2014, are known for their artistry and dedication to choral excellence. The ensemble has toured nationally and internationally, performing in nine countries. Most recently, the choir earned First Place in the Youth Choir Grand Prix and Fourth Place in the Sacred Music Grand Prix at the 2026 Laurea Mundi Budapest International Choral Competition in Hungary. Previous honors include First Place in Contemporary A Cappella and First Place in Youth Choir at the 2023 International Kathaumixw in Canada, where they became the first American choir to receive the prestigious Elmer Iseler Award. In 2018, the ensemble won the Grand Prix at the International Youth Music Festival in Bratislava, Slovakia. At home in Southern California, the Madrigal Singers are in high demand for concerts, festivals, and holiday performances throughout the year.
Vox Angelica
Vox Angelica is our advanced auditioned treble ensemble. Singers explore sophisticated repertoire while developing exceptional musicianship, artistry, and ensemble performance skills. The ensemble is regularly invited to perform at local collegiate choral festivals and participates in performing arts workshops at Disney California Adventure, providing students with unique opportunities to learn from industry professionals.
Profundo
Profundo is our advanced auditioned bass ensemble. Focused on developing healthy vocal technique and musical independence, the ensemble performs a diverse repertoire while preparing singers for advanced mixed ensemble performance. Like Vox Angelica, Profundo is regularly invited to perform at local collegiate choral festivals and participates in performing arts workshops at Disney California Adventure, where students refine their performance skills through professional instruction.
Noteoriety
Noteoriety is our intermediate mixed choir for singers continuing to develop their musicianship and ensemble skills. Students build confidence through engaging repertoire while preparing for the demands of our premier ensembles.
Men of Note
Men of Note is our non-auditioned bass ensemble. Open to singers of all experience levels, the choir emphasizes vocal development, musicianship, and the joy of singing in a supportive and welcoming environment.
Nothing But Treble
Nothing But Treble is our non-auditioned treble ensemble. Designed for singers of all experience levels, the ensemble builds strong vocal fundamentals, confidence, and a lifelong love of choral music.
Extracurricular Ensembles
Kings of Harmony
Directed by Mr. Ball, Kings of Harmony is our open barbershop ensemble. Meeting during lunch, the group explores the rich tradition of close-harmony singing while performing throughout the year at school and community events.
Triads
Triads is a student-led treble a cappella ensemble that gives singers the opportunity to perform contemporary vocal music while developing leadership and collaborative rehearsal skills.
Tritones
Tritones is a student-led bass a cappella ensemble focused on contemporary repertoire, vocal percussion, and student leadership through independent rehearsals and performances.
Octaves
Octaves is a student-directed vocal ensemble lead by Harper Lauren (Year of 2028) that provides singers with the opportunity to pursue unique musical projects beyond the traditional classroom. Repertoire and performances are shaped by the interests and vision of its student leader
